About Aymara Lodge

Poconé,
Mato Grosso

Our Story

Motivated by a love for nature and, above all, the idea of offering high-quality experiences at a fair price, attorney Lisa Canavarros and guide Giuliano Bernardon made a long-term commitment when they decided to invest in Aymara Lodge in 2019. “During my expeditions with birdwatchers, nature photographers, wildlife enthusiasts, and crews from National Geographic and the BBC, I used to visit Aymara, along with other lodges in the region, and this was my favorite place in the Pantanal—where we truly felt like we were having a genuine, immersive experience in nature,” says Giuliano.

Giuliano has been a professional guide since 1998. An expert in birdwatching and photography, Giuliano is the co-author of the field guide “Aves do Pantanal” (Birds of the Pantanal), published by Editora Aves e Fotos. He is responsible for several discoveries in the regions where he operates, having made numerous contributions to scientific and ecological research in the field of ornithology. He has guided throughout much of Brazil, but it was in the Pantanal that he decided to put down roots and, alongside his wife Lisa, bring this new project to life.

In this life project, Lisa and Giuliano work to ensure that Aymara Lodge’s purpose resonates with every type of guest who visits the Aymara Nature Reserve, whether they are families with small children, couples, small retreat groups, incentive petit-comités, celebrations, or solo travelers. The goal is to create authentic and charming experiences in close contact with nature.

A commitment to biodiversity conservation and responsible tourism, represented by the protection and maintenance of the Aymara Nature Reserve.

Caring for the Earth

Conservation is an intrinsic part of Aymara Lodge's activities. Beyond all the care taken with electricity, water, and waste management, our property is a private reserve dedicated exclusively to ecotourism, preservation, and research, where researchers have access to their own exclusive support facilities.
