A Majestic Encounter

Safari in the Porto Jofre Region

In the region where the Transpantaneira Highway ends lies the area with the highest concentration of jaguars in the world. It is also home to the Encontro das Águas State Park, a wild and heavily protected region where various species of birds and mammals can be spotted.

From Poconé to Porto Jofre, there are 140 km of dirt road and approximately 120 bridges, some made of wood and others of concrete. During the green season (December to April), travel in this region is only possible by 4x4 vehicle, as several points are subject to flooding.

In Porto Jofre, there are several options for hotels, lodges, and houseboats. We work with the best available options. From Aymara Lodge to Porto Jofre, it is 120 km, and the journey takes between 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours.

On the Jaguar Day tour, guests depart Aymara at 5:00 AM and arrive at Jofre around 7:30/8:00 AM. They board a speedboat and head up the Cuiabá River in search of jaguars and other wildlife. Between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, the group returns to Jofre to begin the drive back to Aymara. We provide a packed lunch (snack box) for this day.

The safari is conducted by boat, and jaguars can be spotted along the riverbanks.
