Aymara Lodge is a hotspot for birders, who find a variety of endemic bird species here. On the property, you can observe and photograph: Wood Rails, Bare-faced Curassows, Chachalacas, Chestnut-eared Aracaris, Toco Toucans, Turquoise-fronted Amazons, Blue-winged and Peach-fronted Parakeets, Golden-collared Macaws, Hyacinth Macaws, Crimson-crested Woodpeckers, Pale-crested Woodpeckers, Campo Flickers, Narrow-billed Woodcreepers, Rufous-tailed Jacamars, Saffron Finches, Silver-beaked Tanagers, and many others!

The gallery forest near the "corixo" (water channel) that flows through the lodge is one of the best-known spots in the Northern Pantanal among birdwatchers and photographers. At the "corixo," it is possible to spot Great and Snowy Egrets, Striated Herons, Rufescent Tiger Herons, Sungrebes, Sunbitterns, Savanna Hawks, all South American species of Kingfishers, Donacobius, and Lesser Yellow-headed Vultures, as well as caimans and giant otters.

 

The lodge's trails offer the best opportunities to observe Undulated Tinamous, Blue-throated Piping Guans, Planalto Hermit hummingbirds, Blue-crowned Trogons, Scaled Piculets, Planalto Slaty Antshrikes, Large-billed Antwrens, Mato Grosso Antbirds, Pale-legged Horneros, Southern Antpipits, Stripe-necked Tody-Tyrants, Pearly-vented Tody-Tyrants, Sharp-tailed Tyrants, Strange-tailed Tyrants, Helmeted Manakins, Orange-backed Troupials, Green-backed Beksrds, Black-capped Donacobius, Gray-headed Tanagers, Forest Elaenias, Marsh Seedeaters, Epaulet Orioles, and Scarlet-headed Blackbirds, just to name a few!
